Berthold’s LB 1342 and LB 1343 contamination probes are designed for fast, precise, and reliable detection of surface contamination in demanding radiation protection environments.
When operated with the LB 134 Universal Monitor (UMoII), these scintillation probes provide high sensitivity, stable measurement performance, and reproducible results, making them essential tools for applications in nuclear medicine, research laboratories, industrial facilities, and decommissioning projects.
Key Strengths:
High sensitivity ZnS scintillation technology for the simultaneous and separate detection of alpha and beta/gamma contamination. The ZnS-scintillator allows reliable measurement without the need for counting gas and supports precise discrimination of radiation types.
Two probe sizes available to cover different monitoring requirements:
- LB 1342 with a 170cm2 sensitive detector area for targeted spot measurements
- LB 1343 with a larger 345cm2 sensitive area, enabling rapid scanning of extensive surfaces
- Uniform detector response across the entire sensitive area, ensuring consistent and repeatable contamination assessments independent of the measurement position.
- Versatile application range, ideal for contamination checks on floors, walls, work surfaces, tools, protective clothing, and exposed skin in controlled areas.
- Robust and field proven design with a protective metal grid shielding the sensitive detector window, combined with a lightweight housing for comfortable handling in routine operation and demanding field conditions.
- Seamless integration with the LB 134 Universal Monitor, including automatic probe recognition, immediate display of results in cps or Bq/cm², internal data storage, and access to advanced measurement and search modes.
