Omron has expanded its inverter lineup with the launch of the J1 inverter, a compact, reliable, and economical motor control solution tailored to meet the needs of low-end industrial applications. The J1 is designed for scenarios where space efficiency, robust performance, and cost are key considerations.
Ideal for simple applications such as conveyors, fans, pumps, mixers, and basic material handling, the J1 is a practical fit for a wide range of sectors, including food and beverage, general manufacturing, agriculture, and HVAC.
Despite its compact size and entry-level pricing, the J1 offers features typically found in higher-tier inverters.
With power ranges from 0.4 to 2.2 kW (single-phase 200V) and 0.4 to 3.7 kW (three-phase 400V), the inverter supports V/f control, Dynamic Torque Vector Control, and built-in PID functionality. It also includes overload protection, automatic deceleration, sleep mode for fan and pump energy saving, and slip compensation for stable torque delivery at lower speeds.
The J1’s IP20-rated housing supports side-by-side mounting, allowing for a smaller cabinet footprint. It features standard Modbus RS-485 connectivity and offers both digital and analogue I/O, making it a versatile choice for straightforward machine control systems.
To streamline installation and commissioning, the J1 is supported by Omron’s Sysmac Studio as well as the new, user-friendly J1 Editor, a free configuration tool designed for fast setup and easy parameter management.
Fully certified for CE, UKCA, UL/cUL, EAC, and RoHS compliance, the J1 inverter is an ideal solution for a wide range of indoor industrial applications, helping South African manufacturers stay competitive through efficient, affordable automation.
